It was -2 the other day. Windy, cloudy and icy. We’ve had so many grey days lately. Uhg.

Today it was lovely out! Sunny, warm, and completely ‘go for a walk’ kind of weather. It was so nice to just be outside, and not need a jacket. The lovely thing is it is suppose to be warm the next few days too. Even getting into the 60′s. Not actually trying to blog about the weather here. Ha. Ha.

Anyway, seeing the sun shining into the studio makes me feel so much like creating. I was lucky enough to receive ‘studio shopping funds’ for Christmas this year. So, I’m thinking tomorrow I’m heading out to get supplies!! I’m really happy about that.

Just the other week, when it was too miserable to be outside, we started cleaning up the basement/cellar. Trying to get a familyroom, woodshop, and laundry room built in there. (And, why yes…we’ll be doing it ourselves. And, yes it will take longer than we think.) :)

It gave me a chance to look through some of my old work. And by old, I mean going back to JR. High! I don’t know why I didn’t get rid of some of it. It’s gastly. But, some of it is really kind of nice. I had been playing around in the studio a bit lately, trying to get comfortable again. I ended up doing something, and thinking I’d found a new direction. Buried in the old art, I found two pieces using the same ‘new’ direction. Something I hadn’t fully explored and had forgotten all about. Really a great feeling, to look back. And to have something looking forward.

So, it’s off to get supplies. Because for once…in what seems like a month, we have sun and it isn’t drizzling all day. And, it’s warm enough to not need to use heat in the studio. How lovely.

a beginning

I’ve read blogs, commented on blogs..and generally thought them interesting. I was satisfied for a while to just have my little blog on myspace. Actually an artist friend of mine Natasha Newton just started a page here, and it intrigued me enough to start my own.

I just started getting back into being an working artist recently. I’m still in humble beginnings. Life’s responsibilities and blessings meant putting my full time creating on the back burner. Only last year did I really start to move in the direction of getting back into it. It started with building my art studio at our home. My family and friends put in many hours helping. I’ve learned a great deal now about construction. Enough to know that I don’t want to be in construction! But, after a year and a half of building the studio is finally done.

I’ve began moving in right before the holidays. Promptly had my first bout of ‘artist’s block’, and realized how supportive friends and family can be! Now that the holiday’s are over I’m going shopping for a LOT of supplies and should hopefully have things to show soon. I also set up a web site (still under development) where I can showcase my art. www.gwynethamy.com It’s a little ahead of things, but I figured it was easy enough to at least have it sitting ready for when I’m ready.

So here it is…a beginning. Welcome along.
